I copied our recent pictures from Hani's phone, but the only ones I managed to get were those since we came up to New Jersey to visit my family. I'll try to get the Gainesville pictures once Hani gets back to Johor, but in the meantime, I've put together a "pictorial essay" (ok, it's just a bunch of pictures of Hani that I think look good!) of Hani at my parents house.
Oh, and by the way, my parents loved her, naturally. She was nervous beforehand but they like her a lot and are looking forward to having her as a daughter-in-law.
This picture comes from Christmas Eve. Hani looked so snazzy I had to sweep her up for a kiss. You can't really tell what she's wearing her new coat (that we bought specifically for the cold weather) but she looked very pretty.
Here we are again - a little more dignified this time. For some reason I look ridiculous in this picture, but this supposed to be a Hani pictorial, so this picture goes in anyway!
The next two pictures are from the same night. In the first, Hani is sitting in the kitchen of my parents house; in the second she's in the guest room she stayed in. See the Dylan's Candy Bar bag behind her in the first one? We went there (a candy store) when we were in New York City and pigged out - ok, not really, but I did get a bunch of candy for me and my family.
Here's Hani on Christmas morning, about to receive a bunch of presents from me and my family.
And here she is posing with some of the presents. From left to right we have a Lomocamera Super-Sampler from me, "The Lost Symbol" from my parents, an "I love nerds" Hello Kitty coin/phone purse from my sister, a Hello Kitty wallet from me, and a Juicy Couture bag from me. We took a few pictures with the Lomocamera (which takes four photos left-to-right in a series with intentionally-flawed lighting and styling) and I'm excited to see how they turn out.
Birthday time! Hani celebrated an early birthday with my family. We went out for dinner, just the two of us, in celebration on the actual day. Actually that's not true, it was the day before, but in Malaysia it was the actual day, so good enough for us! This picture is from my parent's house. This picture is a little blurry, which seemed to be a hallmark of the photos I took.
Here she is modeling a hoodie that my mom got her from the school she (my mom) teaches at. The one on the right might not be a runway pose, but I'd take Hani over someone from Paris (pronounced Pah-ree!) any day. That's my mom on the left in the second picture.
Speaking of posing with family, here's Hani with my grandfather in the background. My family typically goes to my great Aunt's house after Christmas to visit her and my grandparents. Hani came with us and won over my Mom's family with a smile!
Hani wanted to look at the old family pictures so my dad hauled out the old photo albums. It took a couple days but I think Hani looked at every picture ever taken of me - which basically alternated between making silly faces and jumping in front of the camera and sullenly looking at the ground.
On her birthday we spent some time walking around Princeton together, talking and relaxing and being stupid (mainly me with the latter!). The second picture is Hani's "no pictures, no pictures!" response to me as the paparazzi. The last one is her tiger-face (Princeton's mascot is a tiger) - terrifying, huh?
The last three pictures are when we went out for dinner for her birthday. We went to "Joe's Crabshack", a place that, until we looked it up, I knew primarily by the huge "Eat at Joe's" flashing lights on the roof, visible from the highway. It was a fun place: very busy, very delicious, and the staff sang Happy Birthday to her when dessert arrived. I didn't plan that, but I certainly didn't stop it! Look at the size of that drink... Hani ordered a "Shark Bite" and the waiter offered to triple it for double the price - what a deal! It's bigger than her head, but between the two of us we managed to finish most of it.
So there you have it - a look at Hani's time with my family. She fits right in and I love having her here (as did my family!). She's a wonderful girl and I'm lucky to have her - and look how pretty she is!
2 chirped:
