actually few more other boxes ticked.

My mommy called earlier to ask whether we're good about the dates picked for solemnization and family reception since she needs to meet up with her niece about crucial stuff for family reception.

My mom's niece - which is my cousin used to work with Malaysian Airlines. I forgot when exactly she stopped working with them but currently she has this big catering business for all sort of events - weddings included. The best thing is that she has her own nursery (flowers, not the child care center) so fresh flowers are part of the deco. She's done multiple corporate events and big shots' weddings so my mom decided we should just hire her for my family reception.

I told mom how much Gruffy and I are budgeting for the family reception so that my mom could keep that number in mind. It was somewhat relieving to hear that my cousin would not only do the catering, but also the pelamin, or the "Throne" as Gruffy calls it and the whole bridal make up and hair and what not.

What's left is for me to inform my cousin about our theme colour - my mom helped me to decide this one when we went to get kain for our "baju sanding" last weekend because the initial colour I wanted didn't look as good. All my baju kurungs - the kain, design and everything are all courtesy of my mom's sharp eyes. She really does have good taste when it comes to hal-hal kain. And all are approved by people around me and my friends. So I really don't mind her choice of colour, I think it's great.

I also need to tell them how I want my pelamin to be - my mom suggests that we have an outdoor pelamin for sanding, which I actually totally agree on for few legit reasons. And we might have simple mini dais for solemnization.

So all essential things for family reception are considered settled - as in, they're being taken care of. Next on the list is our gubahan hantaran - since we have to do for both sides, sebab macaam mana la pulak my OrangPutih wants to do hantaran and all. So I need to tell mommy - again, she's doing all these on her own (with my help and her sisters of course) how I want them to be.

I think we're settled on 7 berbalas 9. We did our budget according to that amount of trays. I'm excited to do wedding gifts shopping hehe some I think Gruffy will get in the states, for things that are cheaper over there and some we're gonna get them here when Gruffy comes over in March. Boy we have lots to do in that one whole in March!

gubahan hantaran ni...I still am undecided of how I want them to be. I do have a penchant for those minimalistic yet classy ones. I'm not a big fan of over garnished/crowded kinda hantaran. So we'll see. My mom has good eyes, so I'm sure between the two of us, we'll find something that's nice. She also said she'll email me her version of the budget for family reception so Gruffy and I can look at it and make amends wherever necessary.

Arghhh I need to go borrow past bridal magazines from people! And get new ones! cos I still need to come up with a baju sanding design for myself!
